Today, Pal and Buddy are doing pretty good, I assigned each fish a different brand of pellets and Pal seems to be doing fine, but Buddy seems to be not eating as much as Pal. Actually it seems like he isnt eating his food at all. Something I noticed was Pals pellets kind of sink so he can swim to eat it, but Buddy's pellets just float and go to the sides of the tank so he doesn't really want to eat them. He eats them sometimes, but not as much as Pal. As of now, im giving them 6 pellets in the morning and 6 at night everyday and they seem to be doing great!
Now that the water is at room temperature and everything is all laid out and organized, i'm ready to place the fishes in their tanks! If you look below at the pictures, on the far left and far right, you can see Pal and Buddy in their tanks, and in the middle you can see their tank set ups!
The water is at 81 degrees which is great for them since they are tropical fish! Last night I filled up Pal and Buddy's tanks with filtered water and added a water conditioner to remove any remaining chlorine that could possibly hurt them. When I filled up the tanks the water was at 64 degrees so i had to leave it over night to get to room temperature. The water is now at room temperature (72 degrees) and soon I will be putting them in their tanks!
Today I went to Pet Kingdom and bought two betta fish for my honors project. My plan is to feed Pal one brand of pellets and Buddy another brand. I also plan on recording how much food I feed them, their water temperature, and any other things that I see. I got two 1.5 gallon fish tanks and will be observing how they behave when looking at them.
