In the Cosmetics Chemistry project, were were put in a group and had to make soap. Along the way we learned the chemistry of soap as well as other products we decided to make. Other products students made might have been, perfume, cologne, chap stick, bath salts, sugar scrub, etc. Everyone in the class was required to make soap. Our group decided to make our products for dogs. The products we made were, soap, shampoo, conditioner, and toothpaste.

My favorite part of the project was making the actual products. It was fun learning the chemistry behind soap and the process was fun. I liked how everyone made effort into making their soap trying to make it smell nice and look nice, because it shows that everyone was really engaged in the project and wanted to do good on it. Something i was most proud of was how everything tied together at exhibition. We were a little nervous about how we were going to present our products and have them displayed, but overall everything looked really nice and I think we were all proud of it. If I were to do this project again, something i would choose to do differently would be wanting more time to do it to experiment with different recipes and also being able to have a better understanding of how things would turn out and to know why our soap was oft or why it took so long to harden. Some of the mistakes we made were making the toothpaste. I wish we found a better recipe. The toothpaste kept settling and its something we wish we could have improved before exhibition. By the end of this project I found that I really do like working in groups for on hand projects. Even though sometimes I am a little pushy and want to have everything as perfect as I can get it, I learned to accept things the way they were and being able to settle for something that wasn't the best we could do.
