Finally, Art.
After waiting three patient years of high school, I finally get to take art! During our first couple of weeks we made a collage on a sketchbook and mine has "Saisir La Nuit" on the front with means seize the night in french. I put that because I think I am more of a night person so it kind of relates to me and I tried to use monochromatic colors. we focused on drawing facial features, then when we felt comfortable with them we jumped into self portraits and then taking those and reducing them further to create a line drawing of ourselves.

After we got comfortable with drawing facial pictures, we moved onto doing self portraits. We took a picture of our self then did a pen drawing that was simplified and mainly focused on what we thought were distinct features that popped out and made it more recognizable for others.

This was a joint project with Pam's class. In her class, we read autobiographies and then in art, we got a picture of them and made a collage of them out of magazines and books. This was a really fun project because we got to find a lot of pieces of paper that would fit into our collage and sometimes it was hard finding the right piece. We got a piece of wood and then traced the image onto the board then cut it out with a handsaw. Then we took mod podge and then glued the pieces of paper onto the board creating our final product.

For the derivative watercolors, we choose a character that we could modify to make them unique. First we drew an exact copy then painted it in watercolor. Then when we were finished with that we got creative and did what we could to alter the character so that there is still a resemblance, but there had to be some things that would change. My character was Pascal from Tangled, who is a chameleon. The way I altered him was changed his color and also bgve him a more realistic reptilian figure and also gave him wings.

After finishing with derivative art, we then moved on to a mini abstract project. What we did was just drew lines and painted it with water color just to see what we could do with it. What I did was draw a bunch of triangle and then filled in each part with a different color then splashed it with water to get a wet, dripping effect on it.

After abstract work we moved onto landscapes. We chose a picture of a landscape then painted it with water color. I chose a picture of the Eiffel Tower at dusk. Then one day we all went outside to the bay by our school and took our materials with us and then took a certain scenery from the bay and painted it.

For this project we will attempt to recreate the style of the 1980"s painter, Jean Michel Basquiat. We statrted painting where all the action is like scribbling and writing. We watched a film about Basquiat to better understand the life and approach of the artist. A twist of the project is the collaborative aspect. Basquiat and Andy warhol did actually collaborate on paintings, so we will do the same and give over our artwork to another student to do their thing. We were able to share the painting with other students for collaboration and this was my end result.
Faces of Art History
For this project we had to choose a painter or sculptor. After that we chose a famous piece of work they did and had to recreate it by painting it. I chose to paint the statue of Neptune in the Trevi Fountain. It was a hard process since the colors were hard to make, but in the end I think I did well and am satisfied with the end result.

This was done with a volunteer HTH graduate. He showed us the process of development of an animated character. We chose a person we know from the movies or TV and transformed them into an animated character.

For this project, we created sculptures from recyclables. After everyone finished their product, we installed all of the pieces on top of the Spanish room to create a fake oasis or a fauxasis. Below are some pictures of the process of the fawn I created.
